Target Audience: This conference is intended for Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Nurses, specialists in Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Genetic Counseling, students, and fellows.

Purpose and Content: This conference is focused on updating health professionals on the current practices of cancer genetics. Topics will include general genetics knowledge, updates on genetic syndromes and management, genetic counseling and testing strategies, population screening, ethical/ legal issues surrounding genetic testing and results, and new genetic tests being offered and their benefits and limitations. After attending, the participant should leave with a better understanding of hereditary predisposition syndromes, management guidelines, and testing criteria. This conference will aid healthcare professionals in their practices and improve patient care.

 Educational Objectives: Upon completion of this conference, participants should be able to link the educational objectives to Core Competencies and:

  • Apply basic genetic concepts in discussions with patients
  • Recognize patients appropriate for referral to cancer genetics
  • Discuss updated testing strategies and management guidelines for patients at risk for hereditary breast, colon, prostate, gynecological, and pediatric cancers
  • Identify patients who may benefit from tumor genomic testing or germline testing to introduce new therapeutic options.
  • Identify and discuss the differences between laboratory tests as well as the different options associated with ordering genetic testing.
  • Identify insurance fraud and inappropriate testing and what to do about it
  • Discuss new systemic therapies for hereditary cancer syndromes

Cancellation and Refund Policy 
You must contact the Symposia office no later than June 12, 2020 to cancel your registration. For cancellations made by June 12, 2020, your registration will be refunded less a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds after June 12, 2020.

Educational Grants
Support for general educational programming costs. The Symposia office uses grant funds to defray expenses associated with educational activities in compliance with the ACCME guidelines. If your company or organization offers educational grants in support of CME accredited educational activities related to cancer genetics, we would appreciate receiving the grant application information. A limited number of exhibit tables are available. UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center uses exhibit fees to defray non-educational operating expenses.

Payments
Upon receipt of your completed Support/Exhibit Application we will send an invoice payable in 30 days (Due upon receipt if your invoice is issued on/after May 1). The Symposia office accepts check, credit card and wire transfer payments. We do not accept third party payment methods such as SAP Ariba, EVED or Purchase Orders for support payments. Upon receiving payment, exhibit space will be assigned to each company. Also considered are such factors as preferred placement away from or near another exhibitor. Please note that although we will make every effort to accommodate your preference, placement according to preference is not guaranteed.
